THE HOME SERIES: JEAN

The first installation of a self-generated project, documenting concepts of home from the black diaspora by photographing the subject in the space that they currently call home. The project hopes to explore shifting notions of identity and social belonging through the idea of location - does having a firm idea of belonging co-exist with geographical placement, or is home something we culturally take with us? Can it be both?

This session captures Jean; a woman of Ghanaian heritage who exudes an all-American 'girl-next-door' charm. She has spent the last year and a half calling Bali, Indonesia 'home', after no-longer finding the routine of West Coast living enjoyable. All models are encouraged to dress comfortably, and in a manner that they feel best represents their identity.

Images taken on a Canon 600D.
